ARTIST STATEMENT
I love design, colour and composition. I love using my hands and making something that is practical, and functional. At an early age I had quite and extensive collection of ethnic beads including some gorgeous pre-Columbian pieces that my father had given me from his travels. This was the beginning my -fiddling' with beads and gems, so to speak.
I started silver smithing in 1994, while in high school in Sarasota Florida where I got my first taste of practical jewellery design and creation. Since that time I have always made some kind of jewellery, and recently have focussed on beaded wire work. I primarily work with 14k rolled gold and 14k solid gold, although I sometimes go back to my silver roots.
Each pair of earrings or necklace is a compilation of the mood I'm in, the composition of colours while I squint my eyes and capture the full image of a potential creation and offcourse the tactile manipulation of wire.
Jewellery is, and has always been a constant in my life and I have many dreams and visions for the future.
EDUCATION
