BIO
Rob Tucker is a young New Zealand artist who has been exhibiting professionally since 2007. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions between New Zealand and Australia.
Rob has shown at Art Melbourne (2010, 2011, 2012) and Art Sydney (2010). He was featured in Art Melbourne 2012 New Generation, a showcase of emerging artists who are doing important work and should be considered seriously by collectors and astute investors.
His works have travelled well to a wide audience, between Coca Cola, bars and serious collectors such as the Wallace art trust in New Zealand, Judith Nelson (White Rabbit Gallery director, Sydney) and numerous works nationally as well as internationally.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I like to celebrate and glorify the subject of living in my naIve organic style of painting. My work is heavily layered with imperfections; I almost sculpt an impression of paint and mixed media onto board.
Living in a natural way and being open with the environment is a great way of life and I would like to think this comes out in my work. I want to work and express this idea more in the future. Painting still-life s and studies with the impression of a caught dinner or a simple setting, which bleeds with character.
