The Magic of Racing exhibition at our Gold Coast gallery in January was a huge success and it was great to see the Racing Queensland magazine for February covering the opening.

"... the Friday night before Magic Millions the exhibition was opened by Racing Queensland deputy chairman Tony Hanmer and attended by the exhibition's artists, racing industry participants and a who's who of art on the Gold Coast ..."

Jan Van Dijk shows extensively around Australia. He released his artist book ‘Jan Van Dijk: A Reverse Chronology 2008 – 2006’ and is included in many significant collections.  His subject choices are broad, but the execution is acute, and always exciting. His most recent works focus on the ‘Carnival phenomenon’ – excerpt from media release:

Wheels of thrills and wonder take the viewer into a place somewhere between lost childhoods and imagined futures, complete with tacky advertising and bad carny paint. A sly poke at the ride of life – pursuits and desires may lose their novelty value but that doesn’t halt the revolutions of the wheel. It spins on and on like the repetitive patterns of life and the first ride is always free.

This one slipped through and rather than miss out all together we thought 'better late than never'!  The exhibition has finished in the gallery but we do have some works available.

Henry Tuttiett had a great article in the Gold Coast Bulletin - 'Bush boy's appreciation shines through' about our November show by artists Dave Groom and Michelle Dawson.

"... The ancient landscapes of the Gold Coast Hinterland have made Dave Groom one of Australia's most in-demand artists...."  "... By living in the landscape I get to see it in a different way every day... as a painter you can go out and spend the weekend in the bush but you don't get the feel for it..."

"What better time to have an exhibition dedicated to the majesty of the equine world..."  "... All shapes and forms were on display, with the portrayal of Bart Cummings causing most interest..."

There were a lovely array of photographs from the opening of our Magic of Racing exhibition in the Coast Confidential section of the Gold Coast Bulletin recently.  A fun night for all.
