"I had my alarm set for 4am, the time I needed to get up in order to make my way to the beach ready for the pre dawn light show. As always 4am came way to fast, no matter how excited I am about photographing the sunrise, when the alarm goes off the thought of sleeping in is very tempting indeed. This morning in particular I remember pushing the snooze button a number of times... hmm, my bed is so warm and comfortable, but what will I miss if I sleep in? Eventually I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to the beach in the usual 'morning zombie' like state. As I pulled into the carpark I could already see the sky beginning to fill with colour, with a sudden burst of energy I scramble to set up my gear in time to capture the peak of the light. As I stood in anticipation the sky awoke with colour and life, I shot off 2 frames and watched as the colours faded before my eyes greeting the day as we know it. It's mornings like this that reinforce why I get up so early... I might drive to the beach for ten mornings and be greeted with no nice light, no colours and no photo but it's that driving thought of "what will I miss today" that keeps me coming back and mornings like this make it all worthwhile.
