The circles represent waterholes and the half circles are the billabongs, the water left in the bends of rivers that have dried up.The Lyrebird screen print was inspired by these amazing birds that lived in a mountain rainforest near my family home. The name comes from the spectacular shape of their tales similar in apppearance to a harp like classical instrument, the Lyre.We used to call the LIAR birds because they mimic other bird calls as well as many other sounds that they hear, such as stock whip cracks, even camera frame shutters and sadly chainsaws as their natural habitat is under threat from logging.I dont really know if the males are showing off their fancy tails to each other or trying to attract their womans attention. She just may have better things to do, like minding the eggs, cleaning the nest, doing the shopping.
