The background painting represents the landscape, the ancient Australian land. over which many journeys have taken place The lines represent the body paint of the dancers that tell the stories of the land and the dotted lines follow special pathways known only to the journey maker. To have this painting represent the weather land, I left the painted canvas in the rain and some of the background paint washed away and flaked off and you can see this through the fingerprints if you look carefully.
